The first-year course investigates the history of cinema as a cultural force and guides students through the development and production sequence of independent filmmaking. Students become proficient in screenwriting, directing for film, post-production editing techniques, and they showcase their creative work in the annual Head-Royce Film Festival.

The Filmmaking: Advanced Projects curriculum is for students who continue film studies beyond the first year. Students who wish to delve deeper into advanced filmmaking techniques and explore personal narratives go on to second-year Filmmaking. Themes that are explored include non-linear storytelling, independent filmmaking aesthetics and practice and world cinema.

Film 2 and 3 about iconThe senior filmmaking course is only for students in their third-year of Filmmaking, and is a year-long workshop focusing on advanced film analysis and practice. Students participate in a senior film series where perennial narrative themes in filmmaking are examined, and craft a film that reflects a personal directorial vision.
